I confirmed this with Apple Support today (10:30am PDT - James - 17:58min hold time) and they're recommendation was to not use any 3rd party app as they will likely corrupt the Apple Photo Library.Īpple support recommends importing all photos and going through them manually. This means Apple Photo will recognize a photo as a duplicate during an import if it has the same file name even when it's a different photo. So you will invariably end up with multiple photos with camera assigned names like IMG_0001 but they are different photos (with the same name). All, I spoke to Apple support today () and they confirmed that as of today Photos App has no way to identify or find duplicate photos in your photo library or icloud library.
